Koh Samui, Thailand (May 2020) – Silavadee Pool Spa Resort is recently buzzing with exciting news again, as the beach team member welcomed special returning guest. The 87 endangered turtle eggs were discovered by one of team members on the stretch of beach.

After the hotel had been alerted to the presence of the eggs since 2012, Silavadee Pool Spa Resort has become the home that the mother turtle regularly visited every two years. The resort has been working closely with Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center of Chumphon province to inspect and educate the team members how to look after the turtle nest with care during incubation period.

In the beginning of May, as promise, the mother turtle came back again. The resort’s team member discovered the nest with 87 eggs on the beach. He also contacted the local officer from Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre and the officer preferred us keeping the nest safe on the beach during the incubation period and let the turtle eggs hatched naturally in the next 50-60 days. The resort then built an enclosure to protect the nest from monitor lizards and any other would-be predators. After hatching, the baby turtles will be going straight back to the sea.

The return of the endangered mother turtle every two years is perhaps the greatest testament to the work of philosophy of this luxury resort with their “back to nature” concept and practices.
